Equestrian Olympians Karen and David O’Connor Attend Grand Opening Celebration of The Oaks
More than 500 Equestrians, Horse Lovers and Potential Residents Attend Celebration; Lake City Mayor Presents the O’Connors with the Key to the City
(Charlottesville, VA, October 15, 2008) – Equestrian Services, LLC, the company setting the standards for planning, design, delivery and management of equestrian amenities for resorts and communities worldwide, celebrated the grand-opening celebration of The Oaks of Lake City with more than 500 equestrians, horse lovers and potential residents in attendance. This New Ruralism residential community, located in Northern Florida, is the world’s first exclusively-branded O’Connor Signature equestrian facility.
Associated with renowned equestrian Olympians Karen and David O’Connor, the community, which combines the best of rural living with the best of suburban living, features a 33-stall custom barn, a David O’Connor-designed cross-country course and other equestrian amenities.
Highlights of the October 11 event included a presentation of the Key to Lake City to the O’Connors. In addition, there was a demonstration by Chester Weber, world famous for his Four-in-Hand Driving and Carriage Team, as well as an exhibition by Jon Ingram, world and national reining champion, and his son Seth, a top-10 rider in the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA.)
“The Oaks’ Grand Opening celebration was our opportunity to showcase all the completed equestrian facilities and to share with equestrians, residents and potential home purchasers our excitement about The Oaks of Lake City community,” said Michael Donovan, principal of Equestrian Services, LLC. “Equestrians can be assured that the staff, trained and managed by Equestrian Services’ affiliate, Equestrian Management, will provide Olympic-level services to the horses and hospitality-style customer service to the riders within the community.”
The O’Connors emphasized their excitement in offering extraordinary equestrian amenities and facilities. David O’Connor said, “Karen and I are thrilled to partner with Dicks Realty and Equestrian Services in providing a superior level of excellence and quality to The Oaks’ horse owners and enthusiasts.”
The O’Connors showcased several of their Olympic medals, including a Gold, Silver and Bronze, as well as a Gold Medal from the 2007 Pan American Games. The medals are currently on display at The Oaks Equestrian Center. A Bejiing Summer Olympics stall plate is also showcased.
